Jorge Aguilar, spokesperson for the National Civil Police (PNC), expanded on Tuesday, April 21, details about the armed attack registered in a cevicheria in zone 6 of the capital, where six people died and two were injured, including a 5-year-old child.
According to the authorities’ first hypothesis, the armed incident that occurred on Monday, April 20, would have been directed against a woman who had three criminal records; However, the Boch Pérez family—the married couple and the 5-year-old child—and other men who were in the cevicheria were collateral victims of the attack.
Aguilar said that, according to the recording, it is observed when the two hitmen enter directly to cause the death of Noemí Sinay Hernández and her companion.
According to information from the PNC, Sinay Hernández had a record of conspiracy to murder, carrying a spell weapon, and illicit associations.
According to the PNC’s preliminary investigation, the woman who was the target of the attack and her partner were wearing a white t-shirt—similar to that worn by fans of a soccer team—and a black cap.
Aguilar explained that, in many cases, hitmen receive only general clothing descriptions to identify their target.
According to the authorities, members of the family attacked by gunfire were wearing clothing similar to that of the woman who was the target of the attack, which would have caused confusion among the attackers.
Of the six people who died, only one had a criminal record and, according to the preliminary hypothesis, the armed attack was directed against her.
Aguilar added that another line of investigation suggests that the attack supposedly occurred due to a rivalry between two criminal structures in the sector.
He added that the hitmen could be members of a criminal structure that operates in zone 6. In that sense, the authorities are working to strengthen the investigation and find those responsible for the multiple crimes.
According to Aguilar, the couple against whom the attack was directed and the attackers could belong to the Barrio 18 gang or the Salvatrucha gang, although there is another criminal structure under investigation.
He indicated that there are several lines of investigation and that the other victims of the attack do not have a police record.
The PNC continues with investigations to identify and capture those responsible for the violent act.
Family victim of attack
Another unofficial hypothesis suggests that the Boch Pérez family had planned to watch a soccer game that would be played in zone 6 during the night. The three were dressed in white and the woman was supposedly wearing a team shirt.
This April 21, the San Juan de Dios General Hospital reported on the medical condition of the victims who were injured during the armed attack.
According to the official report from the healthcare center, Domingo Isaías Boch Muz, 50 years old, died upon arrival at the Emergency, due to the severity of the wounds to the abdomen and thorax.
The 5-year-old boy was injured, underwent surgery and continues to recover and undergo medical observation.
Among the fatalities is the couple from the Buena Vista canton, Santa María Ixhuatán, Santa Rosa, who were the mother and father of the injured child. The mother was identified as Kimberly Pérez Ramos and died in the cevicheria. The child’s father, Boch Muz, died at the hospital.
Pediatrics at the San Juan de Dios Hospital added that the child suffered a gunshot wound, so he is stable and did not have perforation of any internal organ. He is out of risk, although he remains under observation.
The Attorney General’s Office reported that it is covering the child’s case to verify his health status and that it has already identified a family member to support the victim.
