The Presidential Commission against Corruption is investigating an incident that would have been carried out by the vehicle assigned to the Secretary of Social Communication of the Presidency, Karina García, whose pilot makes his way through traffic with lights and sirens typical of emergency vehicles.

The video circulates on social networks, in which it is criticized that citizens invest hours in city traffic, while officials make “inappropriate” use of official units equipped with lights and sirens exclusive to emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and patrol cars.

In the registry of the Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT), it was established that the black van with plates O205BCF is in the name of the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency; However, it is unknown if García was in the unit at the time of the incident, an issue that the official neither confirmed nor ruled out.

Julio Flores, head of the National Commission against Corruption, reported that internal protocols were activated to analyze the allegations related to said vehicle.

He explained that it is up to the institution involved to carry out the verification through its probity unit, with evaluation of elements such as the ownership of the vehicle, the identity of the person driving it and the context in which the event occurred.

He noted that the process must conclude with a report that determines whether any irregularity existed and, if necessary, establish the corresponding administrative actions.

Furthermore, he emphasized that no public official has the privilege to violate traffic rules, so any conduct must be evaluated in accordance with the law and institutional procedures.

García, for his part, reported that they are in the process of internal verification after the video circulated on social networks.

The official indicated that so far there is no confirmed information about the origin of the video or the date, location or context in which it was recorded, so the corresponding investigations are being carried out.

He noted that internal mechanisms have already been activated, including the probity unit, and that the National Commission against Corruption will also intervene to clarify the facts.

In addition, he explained that Secretariat personnel attended a summons with a deputy to deliver information related to the use of institutional vehicles and reiterated that the institution is willing to collaborate with any verification process.

The official avoided confirming whether she was inside the indicated vehicle and emphasized that the investigations must first be completed to determine the veracity of the content disseminated.
