They reveal the conversation between Carolina Flores and her mother-in-law, prior to the murder of the former beauty queen

A camera with a motion sensor, which Carolina Flores allegedly placed in the area of her daughter’s nursery, captured the moments before the murder of the former beauty queen from Baja California, Mexico.

The video, released by journalist Carlos Jiménez, shows a conversation between the victim and her mother-in-law, identified as Erika María “N”, before the attack that occurred on April 15 in an apartment in the Polanco neighborhood, in Mexico City.

In the recording, Carolina Flores asks her mother-in-law how she got to the country’s capital.

Erika María “N” responds that she traveled by road from Ensenada, Baja California, and that the trip was, in her own words, “kind of dizzy.”

Moments later, upon hearing the passing of a patrol car nearby, the mother-in-law asks about the police presence. The victim responds that “someone was killed around here recently.”

According to the investigations of the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJ), the investigations indicate that Erika María “N” would have traveled from Ensenada with the intention of murdering Carolina Flores, derived from previous personal conflicts between the two.

Seconds after that brief conversation, the images show the victim heading towards a room, followed by her mother-in-law. There, according to initial reports, Erika María “N” took out a firearm and shot Carolina in the head and chest, which caused her death at the scene.

The video also records the reaction of Alejandro Sánchez, Carolina’s husband and son of the accused, who entered the room after hearing the detonations.

According to what is heard in the recording, Alejandro came to the room and asked his mother: “What was that? What did you do? Are you crazy?”, to which Erika replies: “Nothing, it made me angry.”

The conversation continues when Alejandro asks his mother what was wrong with her, since Carolina “is part of his family,” to which Erika responds: “Your family is mine, you are mine and she is not.”

According to N+, Alejandro Sánchez did not intervene to stop his mother. The capital authorities have detected inconsistencies in his statement, so his testimony continues to be analyzed, although so far no legal action against him has been reported.

According to reports, after the attack, Erika María “N” left the weapon in the kitchen of the apartment, picked up her suitcases, requested a taxi service and left the place. She is currently a fugitive from justice, with an arrest warrant against her.

Reyna Gómez Molina, mother of Carolina Flores, told Univisión that the friction between her daughter and Erika María had become unsustainable during the victim’s pregnancy. According to Alejandro Sánchez, the couple made the decision to move to Mexico City precisely to get away from the family problems they faced in Baja California.

The FGJ confirmed the formal start of the investigation on April 16, under the femicide protocol, following the complaint filed one day after the crime. The authorities continue with the efforts to locate Erika María “N” and determine the possible participation of other people in the case.
