The National Civil Police (PNC) reported this Thursday, April 30, that, in an action carried out by investigators in Santa Cruz Verapaz, Alta Verapaz, Kenny “N”, 22 years old, was captured.
The PNC added that the arrest was carried out in compliance with an arrest warrant dated March 6, issued by a court in Alta Verapaz, for the crime of murder.
The institution stated that the captured person is allegedly responsible for killing second lieutenant of the Guatemalan Army Corps of Engineers Saúl Oliverio Figueroa Gómez, 24, on March 30, 2024 in San Pedro Carchá.
He is also being investigated for his alleged participation in another incident against the lives of two people in San Cristóbal Verapaz, according to the police report.
At the time of his arrest, he was accompanied by Erwin “N”, 18 years old, from whom they seized a pistol with a hopper and 23 ammunition, which he was carrying illegally, the PNC indicated.

In another case, the PNC reported that in the Paraíso I neighborhood, zone 18, agents from Police Station 12 captured Jefri “N”, 22 years old, alias “El HZ”, an alleged member of the Mara Salvatrucha.

A Taurus brand pistol, caliber 9 mm, was seized from the suspect, with which it is presumed that he intended to commit an armed attack, which would have been prevented by prompt police action.
The detainee is allegedly responsible for an armed attack that occurred on April 17 in Pinares del Norte, zone 18, an area that was already being investigated, the PNC reported.
