Traffic accidents leave one dead and eight injured in Coatepeque and El Progreso

Two traffic accidents recorded this Thursday, April 30 in Coatepeque, Quetzaltenango, left eight people injured, including a woman who required hospital transfer, reported the Departmental Municipal Firefighters.

The first incident occurred on the Luis Flores Asturias road, where lifeguards provided pre-hospital care to seven injured people, who were later transferred to a healthcare center.

In another incident, which occurred on the highway to Nuevo Chuatuj, firefighters evaluated a 39-year-old woman, resident in the El Arroyo subdivision, who had a bruise on her left kneecap and lacerations on her right upper limb.

According to the patient’s version, the vehicle in which she was traveling had mechanical failures while going up a slope, which caused it to roll back uncontrollably until it overturned on the side of the road.

The woman was stabilized at the scene and transferred to the National Hospital of Coatepeque, where she underwent medical evaluation.

In another incident, at kilometer 62 of the route that connects Sansare and Sanarate, El Progreso, a motorcyclist died after being run over.

Departmental Municipal Firefighters of Sansare reported that, upon arriving at the scene, the victim had already died due to the severity of the injuries.
