Marco Antonio Figueroa’s Cremas beat Antigua GFC 2-0 in the second leg of the Clausura 2026 quarterfinals, turning the series 4-3 on aggregate after falling 3-2 in the first leg at the Pensativo Stadium. The key was a lightning start by the albos, who opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a header from Agustín Vuletich that immediately put the Cremas ahead in the series and filled the Cementos Progreso Stadium with euphoria.

It is worth remembering that a draw was enough for Comunicaciones to advance thanks to their best position in the Clausura 2026 table, where they finished fourth with 35 points above Antigua, which finished fifth with 34. But the Cremas went for more from the first minute and Vuletich’s early goal put them in a comfortable position from the start of the match.

Antigua tried to react with some approaches in the second half, especially with Oscar Santis looking for the goal to reopen the series, but Comunicaciones’ defense remained solid throughout the match.

The second goal came in the 62nd minute in a play that definitively sealed the Cremas’ classification. Dairon Reyes took advantage of an error by Alexander Robinson that left him alone and defined with precision before the departure of Luis Morán for the 2-0 that sent Comunicaciones to the semifinals of Clausura 2026. From that moment Antigua needed two goals to snatch the ticket from the albos, a mission that the colonials could not complete despite their attempts in the final minutes with Tapia’s changes looking for the miracle.

Communications to semi-finals

With the classification confirmed, Comunicaciones advances to the semifinals of Clausura 2026 waiting to meet its rival, who will emerge from the second leg matches this Sunday between Xelajú MC and Marquense, and Municipal and Guastatoya. Mixco also got its ticket to the semifinals in dramatic fashion this Saturday, so the Cremas could face the Chicharroneros in one of the most attractive duels that this phase of the tournament could hold.

The Communications classification has a special value considering the tournament that the albo club experienced. Los Cremas arrived at Clausura 2026 fighting to avoid relegation after a forgettable Apertura 2025 where they finished in last place, and now they are in the semifinals after eliminating the two-time champion Antigua GFC with a performance of character and personality at Cementos Progreso.

Antigua GFC, current two-time champion of the tournament, is eliminated in the quarterfinals in what is one of the biggest surprises of the Clausura 2026 group. Mauricio Tapia’s colonials came with an advantage in the second leg but could not sustain it against a Comunicaciones that came out with everything from the first minute and showed that in soccer the games are decided on the field and not before the opening whistle.
