The Colombian gathered two million fans, according to data from the Rio Mayor’s Office, who chanted with the artist for more than two hours a repertoire full of hits that have marked several generations in the last thirty years.

After opening with “La Fuerte,” the audience was overflowing with joy upon hearing a mix of “I’m Here”—one of her first number ones on the charts—and her greeting in Portuguese: “Olá, Brazil,” said the singer, who made several interventions in that language and recalled that she “fell in love” with that country after visiting it for the first time at the age of 18.

Brazil was the first country to open its doors to him when he was just beginning his career. She toured various corners of her geography in small and medium-sized venues to become known and become one of the main exponents of Latin pop.

Classics like “Inevitable” followed, and then he moved on to reggaeton with “TQG,” a song he performed along with fellow Colombian Karol G, in a presentation in which the choreography and costumes of his most recent tour, “Las mujeres ya no Lloran,” with which he commemorated three decades of his career, prevailed.

Shakira dedicated the concert to women, highlighting their strength and resilience, and recalled that, if alone they can see themselves vulnerable, together “we are invincible.”

“Pies Descalzos”, “La Torture”, “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Ojos Así”, as well as several songs from his latest album – which earned him his fourth Grammy – were part of the repertoire.

“La Bicicleta”, a song composed as a duet with fellow Colombian Carlos Vives, and other songs such as “Chantaje”, “La Torture” and “Hips Don’t Lie”, in which Colombian rhythms were the protagonists, made the artist show “the tumbao” typical of her native country, which led to Colombian flags being waved in the middle of the crowd.

But “Waka Waka” was the song that stirred the most moods almost at the end of the concert, due to the energy of its melody and the display of colors and choreography on stage, which made thousands of attendees jump and sing in unison.

Important guests

Anitta, the first guest, appeared halfway through the show to perform “Choka Choka” as a duet with the Colombian singer, a song recently released by both artists.

Although it was an open secret, the Brazilian’s presence was confirmed when she appeared on stage in a suit as bright as Shakira’s.

He was followed by Caetano Veloso and María Bethânia, two of the most representative voices of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), with whom he performed “O leãozinho” and “O que é, o que é”, the latter by the singer-songwriter Gonzaguinha.

The round ended with Ivete Sangalo, with whom she sang “Um País Tropical,” a song they had already performed together in 2011 at Rock in Rio.

The concert, the largest of her career, showed the world the power, joy and rhythm of Latin culture, in addition to reinforcing the Barranquilla’s position as a reference for different generations.

The audience reached by Shakira surpassed that of Madonna, who in 2024 gathered 1.5 million attendees on this same beach, and almost reached that of Lady Gaga, who gathered 2.1 million viewers.
