He Pope Leo XIV, Robert Francis Prevost, will receive the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, at the Vatican this week, in an appointment that occurs after the exchange of criticism between the pontiff and President Donald Trump, according to Italian media reports.
The meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, according to information released by sources close to the Holy See. The meeting takes on political and diplomatic relevance due to the recent context between the Vatican and the White House.
Clash between Leo XIV and Trump
Pope Leo XIV, the first American pontiff in history, had previously questioned the immigration policies promoted by Trump even before he was elected a year ago.
However, the most recent episode occurred on April 7, when the pontiff described as “unacceptable” the US president’s threat to wipe out “an entire civilization” in the context of the conflict with Iran. Trump responded by pointing out the pope as “weak” and “terrible at foreign policy,” which raised tension between both international figures.
Pope Leo is WEAK on crime and terrible on foreign policy. You talk about the “fear” of the Trump Administration, but you don’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church and all other Christian organizations had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everyone else for holding religious services, even outdoors and maintaining ten and even twenty feet of distance.
I like his brother Louis much more than him, because Louis is totally MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t!
I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s okay for Iran to have a nuclear weapon. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that the United States attacked Venezuela, a country that was sending enormous amounts of drugs to the United States and, even worse, emptying its prisons—including murderers, drug traffickers, and criminals—into our country.
And I don’t want a Pope criticizing the President of the United States when I’m doing exactly what I was elected, BY A CRUSHING VICTORY, to do: bring down record crime numbers and create the best stock market in history.
Leo should be grateful because, as everyone knows, it was a shocking surprise. He was not on any list to be Pope and was only put there by the Church because he was an American and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I weren’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican.
Unfortunately, Leo is weak on crime, weak on nuclear weapons, which I don’t like, nor the fact that he hangs out with Obama supporters like David Axelrod, a left-wing LOSER, who was one of those who wanted churchgoers and clergy arrested.
Leo should get his act together as Pope, use common sense, stop pandering to the radical left and focus on being a great Pope, not a politician. This is harming him greatly and, more importantly, it is harming the Catholic Church!
President DONALD J. TRUMP

Rubio seeks to strengthen relationship with the Vatican
The journey of Marco Rubior to Rome would include several official commitments, among them the long-awaited meeting with the pope, with the aim of strengthening ties between Washington and the Vatican. Although so far neither the Vatican nor Washington have confirmed the meeting.
It won’t be the first time the two meet. On May 19, 2025Leo XIV received Rubio and US Vice President JD Vance, just one day after the official start of his pontificate.
First anniversary of the American pontiff
Next Friday, May 8, it will be the first anniversary of the election of Leo XIV.
To commemorate the date, the pontiff will visit the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary in Pompeii, near Naples, in southern Italy.
