After three days of distressing search, the body of Luis Ángel Contreras Vicente, 22, was found 30 meters from the shore on the beach of Monterrico.

After three days of intense search work, the volunteer firefighters confirmed that the body of Luis Ángel Contreras Vicentea young man of 22 years which was dragged by the waves in the Monterrico beaches last April 3, 2025.
The authorities and rescue teams made several sea in the sea, achieving positive results to some 30 meters from the shore.
Finally, the body was found and delivered to the corresponding authorities for the relevant legal procedures.
The incident occurred last Thursday, around 6:00 p.m. when Contreras was dragged by the waves.
Last Friday, April 4, the elements of the Special Rescue Brigade of the Southern Region, supported by three frog men, carried out the search. However, the strong swell made it difficult to enter boat, so the rescue work continued until dusk, with the promise to resume in the early hour of this Saturday.
The incident was recorded in a video that showed the moments before Luis Ángel’s disappearance.
The images show how the young man was quickly dragged by the strong waves in the area known as Candelaria.

Despite the desperate efforts of his friends and family to rescue him, the sea became increasingly dangerous, also putting those who tried to help him at risk.
The video listens to the woman who recorded it exclaimed with anguish: “Why do they get like this?”while others tried to seek help.
The young man had traveled from Guatemala City to enjoy a break with his loved ones.
