The construction of Guatemala City AeroMetro entered a new stage. After completing the placement of structural towers in the area of the Montúfar Streetfrom May 11 will begin phase 4 of 7corresponding to the electromechanical work in two stations that correspond to the Line 1.
This phase will cover the section where the stations are located Spain Square and Tecún Umánstrategic points of the initial route between Plaza España and El Trébol.
Preliminary work in Plaza España
Victor Peralta, director of Mikasa Groupa company in charge of electromechanical assembly, reported that this Saturday May 9 Preliminary work will begin on the Plaza España Station, located in zone 9.
The maneuvers will begin at 4amwith the transfer of a crane, counterweights and tool containers from the storage area located in the Major Seminary, Mixcowhere it will also be the Center West.
Upon arrival at the site, personnel will carry out stabilization, assembly and configuration of the crane, followed by technical tests and safety reviews before beginning assembly.
During the afternoon, the first two platforms with materials from the electromechanical system will also be received, with the aim of starting formal work on Monday, May 11 at 7 am
New road closures on Calle Montúfar
For the beginning of this new stage, during the week a new reduction of lanes was reported on the Montúfar Streetas part of the work linked to the project.
The authorities reported that it remains vehicle restriction in the 12 Montúfar street and 0 avenue, zone 9where only the center lane remains enabled.
In order to reduce congestion, drivers were recommended to use the following alternative routes:
- Connection to La Castellana avenue
- Access to Liberation Boulevard
This is how Line 1 of the AeroMetro progresses
The Line 1 contemplates four seasons and will connect Plaza España with El Trébol. The current progress is as follows:
- Plaza España Station: Located on Montúfar Street. The electromechanical phase (4/7) will begin on May 11.
- Tecún Umán Station: It already has the installation of structural towers. It is expected to continue with phase 4 after the work in Plaza España.
- CAMIP station: It remains in phase 2 of 7.
- Clover Station 1: Continues in phase 2 of 7.
According to information shared by the development company, each station will have approximately 10 meters wide.

The seven construction phases of the AeroMetro
Previously, the Municipality of Guatemala has shared that the project contemplates seven main stages that are:
- Foundation construction
- Placement of structural bases
- Tower installation
- Electromechanical works
- Station construction
- Wiring voltage
- Cabin installation
Currently, the phase 4 It will be executed only in two stations on Line 1 located on Montúfar Street.
AeroMetro routes, stations and fares
The cabins will have capacity for 10 to 12 passengersair conditioning and panoramic windows. The system will operate approximately 17 hours a day.

Estimated construction and operation time
The total construction of both lines is projected to be completed within a maximum period of 30 monthsafter having formally started in November 2025.
If the established deadlines are met, the Aerometer could begin gradual operations in the 2027starting with the Line 1after passing technical tests and international certifications.
