The National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) identified the woman found charred in an illegal garbage dump in Chiquimula last Saturday as Aimee Denise Ortiz López, 37 years old. The forensic entity established that the cause of death was craniocerebral trauma.
According to the police report, the discovery occurred at 10:14 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, on a dirt road that leads to the river in the village of Vega Arriba, Chiquimula. Authorities located the charred body of a woman who, at the time, had not been identified.
The report from the National Civil Police (PNC) details that the victim was wearing black lycra-type pants and a white shirt.
According to the preliminary investigation recorded in the police report, Cristofer Barillas Ortiz, 18 years old and son of the victim, told the authorities that Ortiz López left his home on Thursday, May 7, at 3:00 p.m., in an apparent state of intoxication and on board a gray pasola-type motorcycle.
He added that the woman went to a car wash called Méndez, located on 8th. street in the El Molino neighborhood, Chiquimula. According to his story, at midnight he returned to his home to leave the motorcycle and then left in a vehicle with a man. “She stated that she was going to drink alcoholic beverages at a friend’s house and they did not hear from her until today,” the police report states.
In addition, the PNC report states that an unidentified person stated that the victim allegedly distributed drugs at gas stations and other places where he also drank alcoholic beverages. The authorities indicated that this information is part of the investigation proceedings.
