Jaime Viñals conquers 14 volcanoes in 15 days and breaks world record

For 15 days, Jaime Viñals amounted to 14 volcanoes of more than 3,000 meters high to impose a Guinness record. This Monday ended the challenge in the water volcano.

“Everyone is difficult for physical demand. You have to take it easy, at a good pace, and not to despair. I am very happy, very grateful for giving me the opportunity to do so,” said Viñals.

The mountaineer added that, on average, the rise to the volcanoes he visited was 10 to 12 hours; However, in each colossus the time was different, due to the complexity that each of them has.

During the tour, Jaime Viñals was accompanied by two witnesses who guarantee their promotion to the 14 volcanoes, which began in San Marcos with the Tajumulco volcano.

Volcanoes promoted by vineyards

Tacaná and Tajumulco, located in the department of San Marcos; Seven ears, Santa María, Cerro Quemado, as well as the Saint Thomas and Zunil, in Quetzaltenango; Cuxliquel, located in Totonicapán; San Pedro, Atitlán and Tolimán, in Sololá; that of Fire and the Acatenango, located in the department of Chimaltenango, and the water volcano, in Sacatepéquez.

In Antigua Guatemala, the recognition of the world record and Viñals will be delivered, he will be appointed distinguished neighbor of that city.

“I dedicate this achievement to my wife, who is always the one who has always been with me. She is called Ligia,” added the mountaineer.
