The international press announced the making of the film most anticipated by fans of one of the most tender characters worldwide: Hello Kitty.
According to international media, Warner Bros. reported that it will produce a film based on Hello Kitty, the iconic character of the Japanese brand Sanrio. The production company announced that the premiere is scheduled for July 21, 2028.
Sanrio’s Hello Kitty movie, produced by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, will feature David Derrick Jr. and John Aoshima as directors. Beau Flynn is the producer and Ramsay Naito, American film producer and former president of Paramount Animation, recently joined the project.
The script is currently being written by Jeff Chan, with previous drafts by Dana Fox, Katie Dippold, Adam Sztykiel, Jenny Jaffe, Lindsey Beer and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson.
Both directors had previously signed overall deals with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation under the direction of Bill Damaschke.
Derrick Jr. previously worked on the hit Moana 2 for Disney, while Aoshima is best known for his work on Ultraman: Rising.
The white cat with a friendly face appeared in Japan in 1974. She earns billions of dollars annually for Sanrio, her creator, according to an article published in Free press.
Hello Kitty’s adorable face went around the world, with her eternal bow on her head, a symbol of Japanese “kawaii”, that is, “pretty” or “funny”.
In 1974, no one would have imagined that that little white face sketched with a few strokes, that empty look on a face without a mouth, with six little lines to outline a mustache, would become an astonishing worldwide success.
His image is reproduced all over the planet on 50,000 different items, from simple rubber to airplane cockpits. In recent years, Hello Kitty has become one of the icons of “Cool Japan” and of this Japanese popular culture that has invaded the world with cartoons and mangas.
Hello Kitty’s pink universe is not limited to romantic young girls, but reaches all ages, in Japan and the rest of the world. Perhaps adults are more interested in it than children today, according to the Sanrio company spokesperson.
The company spokesperson explained that Hello Kitty is actually called Kitty White, she was born in the south of England on November 1, 1974 and her astrological sign is Scorpio.
