Books for Children is a non-profit organization that, since 1993, has promoted the love of books and reading in childhood.. His work began in Nicaragua and is currently being developed in Costa Rica. The organization opened a call aimed at Central American writers over 18 years of age.

Authors of Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Belize and Panama. Recognized cultural institutions, organizations that promote reading and children’s literature, publishers, bookstores, national libraries and other entities from all Central American countries participate in the promotion of the award.

The contest consists of the creation of a story with a free theme aimed at a reading audience up to 8 years old. The text must be completely original, unpublished and not participate simultaneously in another contest.

This call will be valid until Thursday, August 20, 2026. The works must be submitted under a pseudonym, placed after the title. In addition, an escrow must be submitted containing the author’s personal data requested in the contest rules.

The results will be announced no later than October 16, 2026, through the official Children’s Books channels: its website, www.lpninos.organd their social networks Instagram (@librosparaninosong) and Facebook (librosparaninosong). Participants will be able to stay informed about the development of the contest through these same means.

A single prize will be awarded, which will consist of the publication of the winning work and the delivery of US$1,000 as an advance for copyright. The launch of the book will take place in a special event to be defined, no later than one year after the announcement of the winning work.

a) Physical delivery:
The work must be included in the same envelope in digital format, stored on a USB, and inside it, a second sealed envelope containing the escrow with the author’s information. This second envelope must be labeled with the pseudonym and the title of the work.

b) Virtual delivery:
The work must be sent by email to the following address: Premiocentroamericano@lpninos.org, indicating in the subject the title of the work and the pseudonym of the author. The escrow must be sent in a separate email to plicapremio@lpninos.org, as an attached PDF file. Both the name of the file (PDF) and the subject of the email must state “title of the work + pseudonym of the author”.
