The traditional dishes of the communities are one of the riches that make Guatemala unique, a heritage that has been passed down from generation to generation. For this reason, San Pedro Las Huertas will celebrate the third edition of the Tayuyo and Chicha Festival.
The ancestral flavors can be tasted through tayuyo and various Guatemalan dishes, as well as one of the most notable community drinks in the country: chicha. To do this, local families will prepare their best recipes to commemorate the gastronomic knowledge of the community and celebrate together with visitors the representative flavor of their town.
Through a statement, the organizers highlighted that this III Tayuyo and Chicha Festival promises to offer some of the most exquisite flavors of the native food of the village of San Pedro Las Huertas, in Antigua Guatemala. Beyond sharing the flavor, you will also celebrate the memory of the grandparents, from whom these recipes were inherited.
The president of the Local Tourism Commission, Roberto García, shared that this festival is important because it is part of the tradition of the community’s patron saint festival, which will be celebrated on June 29 in honor of San Pedro Apóstol.
This activity will bring together various chefs who preserve the legacy of these recipes, all different thanks to the family heritage. Likewise, it will have the participation of more than 50 artisans.
The activity, dedicated to the whole family, will feature games, music, workshops and representative flavors of the town. Here’s what you need to know to participate.
