The War Department from the United States released a batch of 64 r filesrelated to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (FANI), the official term used for UFOs.
This second delivery, promoted by an order from President Donald Trump, expands the declassification that began 15 days earlier and includes audiovisual material, written documents and the first-person account of an intelligence officer, who claims to have experienced these phenomena while traveling aboard a military helicopter in 2025.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth justified the measure as an attempt to “provide transparency” about the government’s handling of these reports.
The agency in charge of investigating these phenomena, called the All Domains Anomaly Resolution Office, carried out the location of the files. The repository warns that many lack a reliable chain of custody, so it only indicates when and where they would have been recorded, according to accompanying reviews.
In total, 51 video clips are included and the majority are low-quality infrared images captured by military sensors between 2018 and 2023. mainly in the Persian Gulf area, under the responsibility of the United States Central Command.
Among the published recordings, one stands out that appears to show the shooting down of an unidentified object over Lake Huron in 2023. Later research, cited in the repository itself, suggests that it could have been a balloon operated by amateurs. Another video, without a precise date but assigned to 2022, shows spheres entering and leaving the water near a submarine.
Archives also detail historical sightings, according to report on Soviet espionage and Department of Energy documents, including one referring to the Pantex nuclear plant, where nuclear warheads are assembled and disassembled.
One of the materials that attracts the most attention is the written testimony of a high-ranking intelligence officer. According to the story, at the end of 2025 he participated in a helicopter mission to investigate previous sightings. There, he and the crew had “a series of close encounters that lasted more than an hour.”
Regarding this fact, he describes: “In the distance, we saw an innumerable amount of orange orbs moving in all directions against the mountain. The spectacle lasted several minutes before fading.” In addition, he adds: “The pilots and I observed with the naked eye two large orbs that glowed intensely, side by side, near the helicopter, motionless and just above the right rotor. They were oval, orange with a white or yellow center, and they emitted light in all directions.” The officer confesses that everyone was “practically speechless.”
On the other hand, seven audio recordings of NASA astronauts during the Apollo and Mercury missions are included, in which they comment on the sighting of lights or objects seen from space. The space agency clarifies that these phenomena usually correspond to condensation particles or debris from ships that freeze in a vacuum and reflect sunlight, creating the appearance of “fireflies” or bright spots, especially during maneuvers.
The declassification of these files began on March 31, 2026, when the Task Force on Declassification of Federal Secrets, Acting on behalf of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, he requested from the Secretary of War a list of videos on FANI sightings, with a deadline of April 14, 2026.
The declassified material is available on the official website war.gov/ufo, where more documents will be added progressively. The website indicates that the first batch was published on May 8, 2026 and this second batch was published on May 22, 2026.
