José Alfredo Morales wrote his name in Municipal history by scoring the goal that sealed the Clausura 2026 title. The midfielder scored the final 2-1 at the Mario Camposeco and sealed a convincing 6-2 series against Xelajú MC to give the 33rd crown to the Scarlets.
The goal came in the 57th minute, in the most important moment of the game. Morales, who entered in the second half, appeared inside the area to score the goal that ended Xelajú’s hopes of a comeback and sparked the red celebration in Quetzaltenango.
The score has a special historical value, since it made Municipal the winningest club in Guatemalan soccer. In addition, Morales became the author of one of the most important goals in the recent history of the scarlet institution.
Municipal achieved glory after losing the two previous finals against Antigua GFC in 2025. This time, the title came on one of the most difficult fields in the country and with “Caballo” Morales from the bench who ended up making the difference in the final.
