One of the works that presents a raw and powerful portrait of oppression, the desire for freedom and the consequences of living in a house without it, Bernarda Alba’s house shows that, even under apparent calm and control, forbidden love can also arise.
This work, presented by Luis Román and Thriambos Producciones, will take the public into a drama that arises after the death of Bernarda Alba’s second husband, a fact that leads her to seclude her daughters and impose a rigorous and suffocating mourning period for eight years, a period in which she prohibits them from attending parties.
According to the synopsis, Bernarda Alba has condemned her daughters to live locked between walls full of repression, desire and secrets, but everything can change when Angustias, the first-born and only daughter of her first husband, inherits a fortune, which attracts a suitor who could change everything.
In the midst of mourning, drama, forbidden love and despair arise, as Angustias becomes engaged to Pepe el Romano, a character who will fall in love with Adela, the youngest daughter, and creates a love conflict between Bernarda Alba’s daughters.
Adela, who is willing to be Pepe el Romano’s lover, will experience a love that will lead her to perdition, because when Bernarda Alba finds out about the love affair between the two, she seeks revenge and shoots Pepe el Romano.
After hearing the shots, the youngest daughter thinks that her lover has died and decides to end his life, without knowing that he has escaped, which increases the drama within the family.
This staging brings viewers one of the most popular dramas of the 20th century, written by Federico García Lorca.
