The 2026 World Cup starts on June 11. Lionel Messi, one of the most important players of the last two decades, will participate in his sixth World Cup tournament at the age of 39. This time he will do so as captain of the Argentine National Team, seeking to close his participation in the most important competition in football.
This Friday, June 5, Adidas presented the Adidas F50 Messi “El Último Tango”, the boots that the Argentine will wear during the tournament. The name refers to the Rio de la Plata tradition of tango and the farewell nature that this edition represents for the Albiceleste captain.
The design pays tribute to the boots that Messi used in Germany 2006. The color predominates in white, with light blue accents inspired by the Argentine shirt and gold details. The silhouette corresponds to the new F50.6 Future, an evolution of the F50 from two decades ago.
These cleats incorporate HybridTouch+ technology, a synthetic material that offers a precise touch with the ball, and the Halocage+ system, an internal structure that provides greater stability in changes of direction and turns. In addition, they have iridescent studs that shine under the stadium lights.
In 2006, Messi used a lightweight version of the F30. Now he returns to the same speed line, but with the technological updates of 2026. Messi has already used them in training with the Argentine National Team and they are expected to be his main boots during the tournament.
At 39 years old, who will turn on June 24, Messi has accumulated 13 goals and 8 assists in 26 World Cup matches, being the player with the most appearances in Argentina’s history in World Cups.
The “El Último Tango” shoes symbolize the passage of time in the career of one of the great references of Argentine soccer, from his beginnings in Rosario to his participation in the 2026 World Cup.
