In just his second match with the Guatemala National Team, William Jehú Fajardo Montenegro has already left his mark. In the 40th minute of the friendly against the Czech Republic, the 25-year-old forward appeared in the area after a defensive lack of attention from the rival and finished with power to send the ball into the back of the net. The goal meant a temporary 1-1 draw.

Although Guatemala finally fell 3-1, Fajardo’s score stood out in the match and confirmed the good moment that the player born in Sanarate, El Progreso, is going through.

His call for the FIFA Date in June was not coincidental. During the 2026 Clausura Tournament, Fajardo established himself as the top Guatemalan scorer in the championship by scoring 11 goals in 20 games with Atlético Mictlán, in addition to registering an assist.

In the entire 2025-2026 season, he accumulated 13 goals in 41 games, figures that earned him the call of Luis Fernando Tena and positioned him as one of the offensive alternatives of the National Team.
