Electricity restored in the metropolitan area, Escuintla and Sacatepéquez after reports of blackouts

The Electric Company of Guatemala reported this Sunday, June 7, about variations in the frequency of the electrical system national, which activates protection mechanisms to safeguard the stability of the network.

EEGSA explained that the affected sectors are the Guatemala City, Mixco, Villa Nueva, AmatitlánSan Miguel Petapa, Fraijanes, Villa Canales and Santa Catarina Pinula.

There could also be alterations in the electrical network in Escuintla and Sacatepéquez.

EEGSA explained that it coordinates with the Wholesale Market Administrator (AMM) to guarantee the service stability and security.

At 2:09 p.m., the electricity company assured that the service was restored in the aforementioned sectors.

“Our teams technicians and operations carried out the necessary maneuvers to contribute to the recovery of the servicein coordination with the AMM and different agents in the electricity sector,” the entity indicated in a statement posted on social networks.

On June 6, EEGSA also reported service inconveniences in Santa María de Jesús, Sacatepéquez.
