Traveling along the CA-2 Oeste usually means long lines, slow traffic and up to four hours to travel about 30 kilometers between Suchitepéquez and Retalhuleu. With the opening of Xochi, Corridor of Flowersscheduled for June 14, 2026drivers will have an alternative toll road that promises to reduce that journey to some 30 minuteswith a maximum permitted speed of 80km/h.
The private highway will have 31 kilometers and will extend from kilometer 142.5, in San Antonio Suchitepéquezuntil the kilometer 173, in San Andrés Villa Seca, Retalhuleu. The route will cross San Antonio, Santo Domingo, San Lorenzo, Mazatenango and Cuyotenango, in Suchitepéquez, until connecting with San Andrés Villa Seca, the municipality where the Irtra, Xetulul and Xocomil parks are located.
The project will function as an alternative for those traveling to the Irtra recreational parks, the Pacific beaches and other destinations on the South Coast. Users who do not use the highway will be able to continue along the CA-2 Oeste, while those who enter Xochi must pay a toll depending on the section traveled and the type of vehicle.
The road will have four lanestwo in each direction, and will be divided into three sections of about 10 kilometers each. The first will begin in San Antonio Suchitepéquez and will have nine bridges; the second will pass through San Lorenzo and will also have nine bridges, and the third will be developed in Retalhuleuwith five bridges until you reach San Andrés Villa Seca.
In addition to the main routethe work includes 23 bridges, 18 vaults, four viaducts and more than 20 large drainage systemsinfrastructure designed to overcome ravines, slopes and complex steps on the route. According to its developers,
