The highway Xochi, Corridor of Flowersthis will begin to operate Sunday June 14 with an initial modality that contemplates only the complete use of the route, in addition to promotional rates for those who adopt the electronic payment system promoted by the company.
The new road connects the kilometers 142 and 173 of the CA-2 West between Suchitepéquez and Retalhuleu, and was designed to reduce to about 25 or 30 minutes the journey which currently can take several hours due to traffic congestion on the state highway.
According to the project developers, it is projected that between 12 thousand and 14 thousand vehicles They will use the new route daily, although part of the traffic will continue to circulate on CA-2, depending on the travelers’ points of origin and destination.
The highway is divided into three segments of approximately 10 kilometers each, and was designed to serve both private drivers and the freight transportation that the city uses daily. CA-2 West.
First stage
During the first two weeks of operation, June 14 to 28, Users will only be able to use the full route.
The company reported that during this period circulation will be enabled between the kilometers 142 and 173during the hours of 6 in the morning to 6 in the afternoon, while continuing system operational adjustments.
Subsequently, it is planned to gradually enable the different intermediate accesses and exits that will allow payment according to the distance actually traveled.
Launch fee
One of the main incentives of the opening will be the use of TAG Xochi (Transponder Automatic Gateway, in English), an electronic device that is installed on the windshield of the vehicle and allows toll collection to be carried out automatically, without having to stop at payment stations.
Linked to a prepaid account, the system registers the entry and exit points to calculate the corresponding fare and automatically discount it, with the aim of streamlining traffic on the highway.
Carlos Colom, director of Xochi, explained last Friday, June 12, when the project was inaugurated, that during the launch period the cars will pay a promotional rate of Q35. The regular rate will be Q45 for those who use cash, once the promotion ends.
According to the information published by the company, the special price of Q35 will be valid until September 15, 2026. After that date, the preferential rate will be maintained only for users who have previously acquired and registered their TAG Xochi, while the rest must pay the regular rate.
Colom highlighted that the strategy seeks to encourage the use of electronic payments to speed up transit and improve the user experience. “What previously could take up to three hours can now be done in approximately 30 minutes,” he said.

How to get it
Unlike other systems linked to financial entities, the TAG Xochi It is managed directly by the highway operating company.
Users must create an account on the digital platform https://xochi.gt/ to purchase the device, register the vehicle and top up your balance.
The system works under prepaid mode. Each vehicle is automatically identified when entering and exiting the highway, and the charge is deducted from the available balance in the associated account.
The platform also allows you to check movements, manage payments and recharge funds for future trips.
Business benefits
The company also enabled a modality called TAG Xochi Businessaimed at companies that manage five or more vehicles.
Among the announced advantages are consolidated electronic billing, usage and savings reports, preferential volume rates, as well as personalized commercial attention and priority support.
“We want to encourage the use of technology,” explained Luis Pedro Batres, general manager of Xochi, when referring to the strategy to reduce lines and speed up traffic at toll stations.
Once the initial stage is completed, the highway will operate through a charging system based on the distance traveled.
To do this, the company enabled a calculator on its website that allows estimating the cost of the trip based on the entry point, exit point, type of vehicle and number of additional axles.

Before using the new highway, drivers should familiarize themselves with the charging scheme that Xochi will implement. The route will combine electronic payments through the TAG Xochi and the traditional cash method, in addition to applying differentiated rates depending on the type of vehicle and the route taken.
What does the highway consist of and toll costs?
