The use of clothing similar to those of the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Public Ministry (MP) has been repeated in several criminal events recorded during 2026, since false raids to commit robberies to kidnappings and murders.
Investigations by the authorities have documented cases in Sacatepéquez and Guatemala, where those responsible used uniforms, vests and even supposed court orders to appear to be carrying out procedures authorized by judges.
The most recent event occurred on June 17, when men dressed as police officers broke into a home in the El Gallito neighborhood, zone 3 of the capitaland they forcibly took away three members of a family. Hours later, the victims were found shot to death about 1.7 kilometers from the property.
The first investigations indicate that the two women and a man were executed on public roads, although the motive for the incident is unknown so far.
Days before, on June 10, two women were killed in the La Verbena neighborhood, zone 7, by men wearing clothing similar to that used by PNC agents. After the attack, a police chase took place and the authorities located a rifle and clothing identical to those of the Police.
The cases also include false raids. On May 20, armed men dressed in clothing similar to those worn by police officers and prosecutors They entered a home in Fraijanes. According to the complaint, they threatened the occupants, detained them temporarily and stole belongings.
A day later, on May 21, a group of men dressed in uniforms similar to those of the PNC and the MP entered a home in the Pinares neighborhood, San Cristóbal, zone 8 of Mixco, after showing an alleged search warrant. According to the investigation, the suspects stole jewelry and other valuables.
The death of a couple
On May 1, in the Hacienda Las Mercedes 1 residential complex, in San José Pinula, six people dressed in uniforms similar to those of the PNC and the MP entered the place with an alleged search warrant. After entering a home, They subdued a couple and later killed them. The investigations point to a possible settling of scores related to drug dealing.
The authorities have also located uniforms, vests and insignia similar to those used by the PNC during raids carried out in different investigations. In some operations, they have seized police-looking clothing that was allegedly used by criminal groups to impersonate security forces and facilitate entry into homes or move around without raising suspicions.

Former MP employees captured in another case
These cases are not new. On March 6, the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Impunity (Feci) carried out raids against a group made up, according to the investigation, of members or former members of the MP and the PNC.
The MP indicated on that occasion that the members of that structure selected their victims, falsified arrest and search warrants and entered properties to appropriate money and valuables. During the operations, a former tax agent and a criminal investigation technician were captured.
On January 3, in the village of San Pedro Las Huertas, Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez, security forces captured three armed men who were allegedly posing as police officers.
