American actor Bruce Willis, diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023, is going through a new stage with his family. His wife, Emma Heming Willis, has accompanied him in this process and recently turned 50.
Demi Moore, Willis’ ex-wife, joined the celebrations for the birthday of the actor’s current wife and published a congratulatory message on social networks.
“Today I’m taking some time to celebrate @emmahemingwillis’ birthday! Congratulations on the launch of @maketimewellness on @target! I’m so proud of you and proud to consider you part of my family. We love you so much!” she said.
Heming Willis also shared messages about this new stage that will begin. In a video he appears with Bruce Willis and his daughters, Mabel and Evelyn.
In one of the videos, the actor sings “Happy Birthday” after inhaling helium. “Today I turn 50. And I must say that I am ready for this new decade and all that it has in store for me. My forties were difficult, but I am proud of how far I have come as a wife, mother, caregiver and advocate,” she wrote.
A story of struggle
Heming Willis has shared on his blog that, since the diagnosis, he has assumed the role of caregiver. “Those early stages were deeply isolating. I struggled with a sense of helplessness, feeling like I had no control over what was happening to my family. At the same time, I was dealing with grief, the loss of the life I had known, all while raising our two young daughters,” she describes.
Willis currently lives in an adapted home, with 24-hour care, under the supervision of his wife, Emma Heming. She states that she maintains good general health and activity, although her brain suffers from the progression of the disease.
The disease affects language, behavior and personality. According to the most recent reports, Bruce Willis presents moments of lucidity, although communication has become increasingly limited.
