During this week, the violent death due to gunshot wounds of three women was reported in different events that occurred in Quetzaltenango.

The most recent case occurred in a commercial establishment located on 0th Street and Las Américas Avenue, zone 10 of Quetzaltenango, where Michelle Barreno, 33, died.

According to preliminary information, two men dressed in black, who were riding a motorcycle, entered the establishment and shot the victim at point-blank range. Volunteer firefighters confirmed that the woman died at the scene due to injuries caused by a firearm projectile.

On Wednesday, June 17, two other women were found dead in the sector known as Tuilcanabaj, in Concepción Chiquirichapa, Quetzaltenango. Both had gunshot wounds.

The victims were identified as Roselia Sac Hernández, 21, originally from Olintepeque, and Lourdes Villatoro, 17, from La Esperanza.

Neighbors in the area were alarmed when a ranger discovered the bodies in a wooded area of ​​the municipality and notified the authorities.

Preliminarily, the Public Ministry collected ballistic evidence related to firearm projectiles at the scene, which will be analyzed as part of the investigation to determine the circumstances of the events and establish possible responsibilities.
