They identify 10 injured in a Transportes Xoyita bus accident in Chichicastenango

The Volunteer Firefighters reported the identity of 10 of the people injured in the accident of a Transportes Xoyita bus, which fell into a ravine at kilometer 143 of the Inter-American route, in the jurisdiction of Chichicastenango, Quiché.

The accident occurred on the morning of this Sunday, June 21, in the sector known as El Pilar and El Tesoro. Emergency services reported that no deaths were reported.

According to the Firefighters, 12 people were transferred to different healthcare centers; However, the identity of 10 patients has been released so far.

Injured people transferred to the National Hospital of Sololá

The identified patients are:

  • Gabriel Eliseo Chube, 16 years old
  • Maribel Ramírez, 26 years old
  • Kedin Díaz, 24 years old
  • Leonor del Carmen Martínez, 24 years old, of Nicaraguan origin

Injured people transferred to the Regional Hospital of Santa Cruz del Quiché

The identified patients are:

  • Josefina Belén Pérez Alvarado, 13 years old
  • Marvi Ardón Tovar, 62 years old
  • Marta Alicia Cua, 39 years old
  • Juan Pérez Gutiérrez, 65 years old
  • Juana Renox Raimundo, 32 years old
  • Manuel Morales Ixtán, 60 years old

Víctor Gómez, spokesperson for the Volunteer Firefighters, reported that elements from eight companies participated in the rescue efforts.

The lifeguards descended into the ravine to help the passengers and transfer them to the surface, where they received pre-hospital care before being taken to care centers.
