Sergio Chumil once again demonstrated his dominance in the time trial by becoming Guatemalan national champion for the second consecutive year. The Burgos Burpellet BH cyclist won with authority in the test held in Quetzaltenango.

The Guatemalan started as a favorite and met expectations from the beginning. On his BH Aero TT, he set the best time at all checkpoints and expanded his advantage over the rest of the competitors.

Chumil completed the 36 kilometers of the route in 49 minutes and 43 seconds, with an average speed of 43.4 kilometers per hour. His performance allowed him to lead the second-place team by more than two minutes and retain the title he won in 2025.

After winning the title, Chumil acknowledged that he came to the competition with some doubts due to recent health problems. “Very happy for the victory. I had had some ups and downs in my health in recent days and I was a little nervous”said the Guatemalan cyclist.

The runner also highlighted the importance of national championships for athletes. “All the runners have the national championships as their goal and we had that responsibility of trying to retain the title. Thank God we had the strength to take the victory”he stated.

Regarding the route, Chumil assured that the test was more demanding than last year. “The race against the clock is one of the toughest competitions, from the starting point to the finish line. This year I can say that it was more complicated because the competition was longer,” he pointed out.

The Guatemalan is already thinking about next weekend’s road test, where he will seek to add another national title. ““I will try to prepare as best as possible to be in the fight so that what happened last year does not happen.”he indicated.
