After spending three days under the rubble of an apartment building that collapsed due to the two earthquakes that shook Venezuela, an 18-day-old baby and his mother were rescued alive by a team of American rescuers.
The newborn was identified as Juan David Trujillo, just 18 days old, while his mother was identified as Dayana. Both were located among the remains of the building in a rescue operation carried out under adverse conditions, due to the degree of destruction caused by the earthquakes.
After being released, mother and son were taken to a hospital, where they met with the boy’s father, who was awaiting news about his health.
The rescue of Juan David and Dayana became one of the most hopeful episodes in the midst of the tragedy left by the earthquakes, which caused severe damage in different sectors of Venezuela.
The US State Department highlighted the operation in a post on the social network
The White House also recognized the work of the rescuers with another message in X: “America at its best. Thank you to the American search and rescue teams providing assistance in Venezuela.”
