The lawyer and notary Werner Florencio Ovalle Ramírez was elected as head of the Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT), to cover a period of five years, replacing Marco Livio Díaz Reyes, who concludes his mandate.

The Directory of the Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT) selected, this Friday, April 11, Werner Florencio Ovalle Ramírez as the new head of that institution for the 2025-2030 period.
After the selection process in the call made last February, and concluded on Thursday, April 10, the members of the Board of Directors – who presides over the Minister of Finance, Jonathan Menkos, and also make up Adriana Estévez Clavería and Julio Otoniel Roca Morales – announced the results of the evaluation carried out.
The appointment and the protocol act will be held next Monday, April 14, when the period begins.
During its first year of management, Ovalle must comply with a collection goal of almost Q109 billion in tax revenues, which will finance the 2025 spending program and the operation of the public apparatus.
Last Wednesday he presented to the members of the Board of Directors his work program, in which he details the actions he will carry out to achieve the goal in the tax collection.
In addition, it must face an international situation marked by distortions derived from the tariff policy promoted by the United States government.
Ovalle is the current fifth Vice Minister of the Interior, in charge of the Narcotics Area, and previously served as Customs Mayor from April 2016 to January 2024.
