Bad omen? The controversial phrase of Fher Olvera, singer of Maná, in the Mexico match against England

The Mexican team saw how on July 5 their hopes and dreams of achieving a historic qualification to the quarterfinals of the World Cup faded after losing 3-2 to England, in a match in which those led by Javier “El Vasco” Aguirre tried everywhere, but his persistence did not bear fruit.

With two goals from Jude Bellingham and a penalty scored by Harry Kane, the English silenced the Azteca stadium and ended Mexico’s chances of advancing. especially because “El Tri” had become one of the most outstanding teams in the tournament.

From the beginning, the match generated friction between both fans, to the point that even celebrities exchanged messages on social networks. That was the case of the singer of the Mexican band Maná, Fher Olverawho responded to a publication by Liam Gallagher, a member of Oasis, in which he assured that England would beat Mexico 5-0.

At first, the Mexican singer’s response seemed like it would be the only viral moment in which he would participate. However, during the game’s halftime show he made a gesture which quickly went viral on social networks and even caused rejection from Mexican fans.

It all started when the band performed the song “El Rey”, by José Alfredo Jiménez, popularized by various versions, including that of Vicente Fernández.

The choice of this song generated comments of rejection and irony among the Mexican fans, which stated that the lyrics alluded to a possible elimination of Mexico.

Above all, general rejection arose when Fher Olvera sang the phrase: “I know well that I am outside”. This was interpreted by many people as a “bad omen” for the Mexican team.

The comments were immediate. Many took the phrase with humor and others rejected it.

“They took down Mexico alone”, “In addition to being a singer, he is a psychic” and “Maná knew that Mexico would be eliminated” were some of the comments published on social networks.
