A sixth suspect is captured for the kidnapping and disappearance of dentist Julio Amílcar Martínez Murillo

A sixth suspect in the kidnapping and disappearance of dentist Julio Amílcar Martínez Murillo was captured in a residential area located at kilometer 20.5 of the route to Fraijanes.

The National Civil Police (PNC) develops six raids, inspections, searches and seizure of evidence, in compliance with an order issued on July 2.

The authorities indicate that Andrés “N”, 20 years old, is alleged member of the criminal structure called Scorpiondedicated to plagiarism or kidnapping. This organization is linked to the crime against Martínez Murillo, which occurred on May 28, 2026 at kilometer 20 of the highway to El Salvador.

The PNC adds that the arrested person is designated plagiarism or kidnapping.

On May 15, Judge Eduardo Orozco, in charge of the High Risk Court B, sent five alleged suspects involved in the case to trial of kidnapping and disappearance of Martínez Murillo.

The Public Ministry (MP) designated Julio Leonardo Alejandro Girón Castañeda as alleged ringleader of the criminal gang.

On May 28, Judge Orozco accepted the documentary, testimonial and expert evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office and the complainants.

Among the tests were surveillance camera recordingstwo watches, a firearm possession card, sunglasses, two intercoms, uniforms similar to those of the National Civil Police, a police shirt, a jacket, a helmet, nine pistol magazines, seven pistols, a weapon sight, a rifle and at least 680 firearm cartridges.

Girón Castañeda, Carlos Antonio González and Juan Ubaldo Tzul Castillo are accused of plagiarism or kidnapping. Meanwhile, Juan Oswaldo Tzul Hernández and Paola Isabel Díaz Ramírez were sent to trial for plagiarism or kidnapping in a degree of complicity.

The High Risk Court B must schedule the date for the start of the debate against those indicated.

The disappearance of the dentist

Martínez Murillo disappeared on May 28, 2025when he was going to his clinic in El Jocotillo, Villa Canales. According to the MP’s investigation, he was intercepted by a group of people who followed him from a shopping center located at kilometer 21.7 of the route to El Salvador.

Among the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office are records from video surveillance cameras, telephone monitoring, intercepted audios and evidence related to the vehicles that were supposedly used to carry out the kidnapping or kidnapping.

The research maintains that the sequestrians demanded Q5 million in exchange for freeing the dentist. However, after negotiations with the family, a payment of Q763 thousand was agreed upon, delivered on June 5, 2025 at a gas station located in zone 13 of the capital.

The MP also played audio of calls in which Martínez Murillo asked his family to raise the money to save his life.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Girón Castañeda maintained a close relationship with the victim and knew her routines, which would have facilitated the planning of the kidnapping.
