In the High Risk Court B, this Wednesday, July 15, the first statement hearing of Andrés Alcázar Crespo takes place, who was captured on July 8 for his alleged connection with the disappearance of the dentist Julio Amílcar Martínez Murillo, last seen in May 2025.
During the hearing, the Public Ministry (MP) points out that the numbers used to call Martínez Murillo’s family and negotiate the amount of money for his release were activated with the Personal Identification Document (DPI) of Alcázar Crespo, for which he was charged with the crime of plagiarism or kidnapping.
The MP added that he requested information from telephone companies to identify the line owners. In response, one of the companies sent the requested information.
According to the investigating entity, the telephone number identified as the sender and two other individualized numbers were activated with the DPI number of the accused and would have been used by the alleged kidnappers to communicate with the dentist’s wife and demand money in exchange for his release.
In his statement, Andrés Alcázar Crespo stated that he lost his IPR on April 29 and December 2, 2025.
He added that he replaced the document at a headquarters of the National Registry of Persons (Renap) in Fraijanes.
The investigating entity requested that Andrés Alcázar Crespo be linked to criminal proceedings for the crime of plagiarism or kidnapping.
In his intervention, Andrés Alcázar Crespo’s defense questioned the MP’s investigation and pointed out that the time and place where the accused made the alleged purchase of five SIM cards were not established.
He also argued that the MP’s investigation fails to establish any rational evidence that demonstrates that his client had control of the incident. He added that he did not request any ransom and that the Prosecutor’s Office has not incorporated evidence that proves that the accused participated in the kidnapping of the dentist.
He added that the investigation is based on reports from telephone companies and described the investigation as “poor.”
Disappearance of dentist
According to the MP’s Anti-Kidnapping Prosecutor’s Office, the event occurred on May 28, 2025, when the dentist was intercepted while driving to El Jocotillo, Villa Canales.
That day, Martínez Murillo left his home, located on the route to El Salvador, bound for his clinic in El Jocotillo. On the way he made a stop at a shopping center. According to the investigation, at least three vehicles were following him.
After continuing his journey, he would have been intercepted after kilometer 38, in a desolate area. At that moment he had a call with his secretary, which was interrupted.
A day later, the alleged kidnappers contacted the dentist’s wife to demand payment of “five quintals of corn,” according to telephone interceptions. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the real demand was Q5 million.
