According to preliminary information, Guatemala registers damage to some buildings and collapses resulting from the 7.4 magnitude earthquake. One of the landslides was captured on video in San Pedro La Laguna, Sololá.
The clock read 8:48 a.m. this Friday, July 17, when the national territory was shaken by the earthquake, with its epicenter on the coast of Chiapas, Mexico, according to the Insivumeh update.
Minutes later, videos of the effects caused by the earthquake began to circulate on social networks, which caused alarm in the country and forced the evacuation of buildings and the suspension of classes in some departments.
Among the recordings is the video of the landslide captured in San Pedro La Laguna, where the fall of earth and rocks on the asphalt is observed.
The video, lasting one minute and 22 seconds, shows two clouds of dust descending from the hillside while a vehicle passed by, which was at risk due to the release of the material.
The person who recorded also captured the moment when stones and dirt covered the lanes of the section. The Municipal Firefighters of San Pedro La Laguna confirmed the collapse in that municipality.
According to the Insivumeh, at least 12 aftershocks have been recorded after the strong tremorwhile Conred reported that the tsunami alarm was cancelled.
