The Municipal Traffic Police reported at 7:03 a.m. on July 21 about a blockade, in both directions, in kilometer 15 of Roosevelt Road.
The municipal authorities point out that those responsible for the interruption of mobility are a group of taxi drivers and unauthorized taxi drivers.
Mynor Espinoza, spokesperson for the Municipality of Mixco, explains that the demonstration is associated with the rise in fuel prices after the end of the subsidy applied by the central government and the new tensions between the United States and Iran, which affect navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Espinoza points out that the blockade affects the Inter-American route, since the line of vehicles extends from Santa Lucía Milpas Altas, Sacatepéquez, towards Guatemala City.

It is also suggested to use alternative routes, such as Santo Domingo Xenacoj, to enter San Pedro Sacatepéquez and San Juan Sacatepéquez, in the direction of the San Juan road.
In addition, a return is enabled for drivers heading towards the capital in the kilometer 17.5, to enter La Comunidad and head towards Las Charcas along the boulevard in zone 10 of Mixco.
Blockage by taxi drivers is reported due to the increase in fuel at km 15 of the Roosevelt Causeway in both directions.

Agents from the National Civil Police are at the site of the blockade, as well as agents from the Mixco PMT.
Traffic agents provide support in different sectors of Mixco due to the massive attendance.
