The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported on July 21 that Tropical Storm Bertha has intensified and threatens cause flooding on the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

In its most recent bulletin, the NHC detailed that the storm, due to the intense rains and winds that accompany it, puts that area at risk due to the formation of a storm surge.

The entity also issued flood alerts for parts of the southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi.

Likewise, it issued a tropical storm warning from the border between Florida and Alabama eastward to the Bay and Gulf county lines.

The NHC stated that Bertha has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and is moving towards the northwest of the United States at a speed of 6 kilometers per hour.

In addition, the Center detailed that Bertha’s tropical storm conditions will begin to be felt with greater intensity during this Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday along the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

Bertha is the second named storm of the current one Atlantic hurricane season.

The authorities indicated that, due to other factors, such as the strengthening of the El Niño phenomenon, this year the formation of nine hurricanes.
