A bricklayer died and another was injured this Wednesday, July 22, after being buried by the collapse of a wall in the community of Sibacá, Chinique, Quiché, the Volunteer Firefighters reported.
The rescuers reported that, with the support of community residents, they carried out rescue work for more than an hour to locate and extract the two workers who were trapped under the rubble.
One of those affected, 23 years old, was rescued alive and transferred to the Quiché Departmental Hospital to receive medical attention.
The other victim, 32 years old, died at the scene, according to lifeguards.
The circumstances under which the collapse of the wall occurred were not detailed by the authorities.
