They capture 29 alleged criminals in operations; among them, members of the White Fence criminal gang

The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that, as a result of 116 raids carried out this Thursday, July 23 in conjunction with prosecutors from the Public Ministry, the capture of 25 alleged extortionists and four alleged car robbers was reported.

He added that the proceedings were carried out in the departments of Guatemala and Quetzaltenango, in actions aimed at dismantling criminal structures dedicated to these crimes.

According to the PNC, the operations allowed the execution of arrest warrants authorized by different courts, in addition to collecting more evidence to strengthen investigations against criminal groups operating in both departments.

He explained that 12 of those arrested are gang members of the criminal gang calling itself “The White Fence 13” and the others are members of the Barrio 18 gang.

The PNC also reported the seizure of three rifles, a shotgun, a carbine and several pistols. Some of the weapons have legal documentation, but were seized for analysis at the National Institute of Forensic Sciences, in order to confirm or rule out their connection with crimes and attacks committed against several citizens.

He added that drugs and bank documents were seized in other homes, among other evidence that will strengthen the processes under investigation.

In addition, clandestine video surveillance cameras that criminals had placed to control and extort citizens were removed.
