The Departmental Municipal Firefighters shared details of an armed incident recorded in the village of Mesillas Bajas, Amatitlán, where an agent of the National Civil Police (PNC) and a civilian died on Sunday, July 26.

They added that another PNC agent was injured in the left leg, for which he was taken in a patrol car to a health center.

According to the report from Police Station 15, the deceased agent was identified as Bayron Aníbal Mejía Montenegro.

The PNC indicated that the deceased civilian was wearing black canvas pants, black leather boots, a brown leather belt, a black T-shirt, a checkered purple shirt, and a black jacket.

Among the evidence they located a chrome pistol-type firearm with a black handle, which reads Taurus, as well as blood stains.

According to the preliminary investigation, the agents were going to verify an address in the village of Mesillas Bajas; However, when they arrived, the civilian, upon noticing the police presence, fired several shots, so the uniformed officers repelled the attack. As a result, one officer died and the person responsible for the shooting also died.

Man shot in Masagua

The Departmental Municipal Firefighters of Masagua reported that a man was shot dead this Monday, July 27, in the central park of the village of El Milagro, Masagua, Escuintla.

According to the fire department report, the victim was identified by a family member as Wilmer Alexander Villagrán Ruiz, 20 years old.

They locate a body in Villa Nueva

The Municipal Firefighters were alerted by neighbors, who reported that a foul odor was emanating from a rental room. The discovery occurred in block C, Lot 20, Sector 1, El Búcaro neighborhood, zone 12 of Villa Nueva.

When the emergency medical technicians showed up, they located a 56-year-old man in the building, who was on a bed in an advanced state of decomposition.

Due to the conditions in which he was located, it was not possible to preliminarily establish the cause of death, firefighters reported this Monday, July 27.
