Under the motto “Where there is a treat, there is a living history of the people”, the Meeting of Conviteros 2026 arrives, in which music, dance and joy will travel through the streets of Guatemala City.
This event will be a meeting and tribute space for committees, groups and party dancers from all over the country, who at every opportunity fill their municipalities with joy.
According to the Ministry of Culture and Sports (MCD), at least four thousand members of various entertainment groups from the 22 departments of Guatemala are expected to participate, seeking to break centralization and celebrate the country’s diversity.
The event will bring together traditional treats, botargas, warriors and Mayan clothing, with the purpose of recognizing, strengthening and disseminating the artistic expressions of these groups, which go beyond a cultural legacy, as they are part of the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.
The 2026 edition marks the second edition of the Conviteros Meeting, after the success of the one held in 2025, when groups from Quiché, Chimaltenango, Huehuetenango and other departments celebrated the culture of convites.
Unlike the first edition, this year there will be two routes that will travel between zones 1 and 2 of Guatemala City. Both parades will head to the Plaza de la Constitución, where this cultural celebration will conclude with the final presentation of the groups.
