6.2 magnitude earthquake and aftershocks reported by Insivumeh in the last hours

In the last few hours, the Insivumeh has recorded tremors with their epicenter in the Pacific Ocean. Among the earthquakes is one of magnitude 6.2, the institution reported.

The 6.2 magnitude tremor was recorded at 11:35 p.m. on Monday, July 27, with a depth of 20.04 kilometers.

La Conred reported that, in compliance with the National Response Plan, it maintains communication with regional and departmental delegates to monitor possible damage after the seismic event.

He indicated that the earthquake was sensitive in Baja Verapaz, Chimaltenango, Escuintla, Guatemala, Huehuetenango, Quetzaltenango, Quiché, Retalhuleu, San Marcos, Sacatepéquez, Suchitepéquez and Totonicapán.

He added that during 2026, more than 4,600 earthquakes have been recorded in the national territory, so it is essential that the population strengthens its preparation and knows how to act in the event of an earthquake.

More earthquakes reported

According to the Insivumeh report, after the 6.2 magnitude tremor, two other earthquakes have been recorded.

One occurred at 2:25 a.m. this Tuesday, July 28, with magnitude 4.1 and a depth of 24.58 kilometers.

The second was recorded at 3:16 a.m., also of magnitude 4.1, but with a depth of 5.46 kilometers. In the last 24 hours, 51 earthquakes have been recorded, of which one has been sensitive.

In recent days, earthquakes with their epicenter on the Pacific coast, between Guatemala and Mexico, have been constant. One of them occurred at 8:48 a.m. on July 17, with magnitude 7.4.
