As the calendar approaches the future electoral call, cases of alleged early campaigning also increase, which can be sanctioned with the registration of the candidate for the 2027 elections.
This is according to data from the Specialty Unit in Media and Opinion Studies, which until last Friday documented 150 open cases.
“The TSE has now increased the profile review procedure, this monitoring is permanent,” explained Pablo Portocarrero, head of the Media Unit and acting secretary of the electoral authority.
Unlike the last electoral event, which also left numerous complaints due to early campaigning, now the TSE detected a change in the way in which politicians seek to attract attention.
“We have seen a greater presence on social networks, the theme has been changing, the payment of the guideline is no longer the biggest complaint or specification, now it is gifts and proselytizing meetings that are disguised as acts specific to the electoral campaign,” Portocarrero explained.
some names
Among some of the names that stand out in the new investigations by the General Inspection of the TSE, some deputies to Congress and others who do not hold public positions stand out, explained a source who preferred not to be cited.
Ernesto Bran, from Valor; Herman Echeverría, elected by Vamos but who would be aligned with Cabal; and Manuel Archila, Cabal deputy, appear in the new files that the TSE has open.
Nancy Bran, sister of the mayor of Mixco, Neto Bran, also stands out, who in recent weeks has intensified her presence on social networks, according to the complaints received by the TSE.

Nancy Bran has not announced any type of candidacy or political intentions, but the delivery of food in the municipality of Mixco, which has been documented and shared on social networks, occurs after her brother announced the possibility of competing for the presidency.
The mayor’s sister received complaints and others were opened ex officio by the TSE authorities, who seek to clarify whether digital activity could incur some of the prohibitions that the electoral law has.
Ongoing investigation
Roberto Garza, Inspector General of the TSE, explained that the investigation processes respect the legal processes, since each complaint is notified to the politician who has the possibility of defending himself against the alleged facts.
“We are working, people who already have a file are being notified, giving them a period of five days to disappear or exercise their right of defense,” explained the inspector.
Months before the future call for the 2027 general elections, Garza explained that there are a greater number of reports, which forces the personnel in charge to delve deeper into the allegations.
“Let’s remember that the issues of membership days are within the law, there is no problem with that, mayors who publish on personal networks, it is different, but we are doing the investigations,” he indicated.
So far, the TSE Citizen Registry has not issued sanctions against politicians who have been denounced for early campaigning.
