Residents of various sectors of Antigua Guatemala should take precautions this Thursday July 30due to a temporary suspension of the piped water service caused by scheduled maintenance work on the network of the Electric Company of Guatemala (EEGSA), official sources reported.
The Municipality of Antigua Guatemala reported, through its official channels, that the work will be carried out by EEGSA and will affect the operation of municipal distribution wells, which depend on the supply of electrical energy to operate.
According to the official notice, electrical maintenance will be carried out from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.a period during which there will be interruptions in the energy service in some sectors and, as a consequence, the water supply will be temporarily suspended in different areas of the municipality.
The commune explained that the measure responds exclusively to the maintenance work scheduled by the electricity distributor and that the work seeks to prevent future failures in the network.
Among the sectors that will remain without electricity, according to the EEGSA report cited by the municipality, are the surroundings of the 1st. to the 2nd. North Avenue and 1st. to the 4th. East StreetIn addition to the colonies Alameda Santa Rosa and Candelaria.
On the other hand, the suspension of the drinking water service will affect the sectors of Santa Rosa, Central Park, La Merced neighborhood, Ancha de los Herreros street, 1st. South and North Avenue, 3rd Street, Capuchinas area, Santa Lucía South and North Road, San Bartolomé Becerra, San Pedro El Panorama, 7th. street and 9th. street.
Given this situation, the Municipality of Antigua Guatemala recommended to the neighbors collect and store the necessary water in advance to cover their daily activities during the day in which the work will be carried out.
