Almost 50 days to conclude his mandate as head of the Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT), Marco Livio Díaz Reyes, he still analyzes whether or not he participates in the new process that the Board of Directors will carry out.
During an activity with Guatemalan Chamber of Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), Díaz Reyes said that he still evaluates and “has not made a decision in short, whether or not to appear to a new process.”
“I have still made the decision in that regard,” said the official recalling that the selection process of his substitute is elected by the members of the Board of Directors presided by the Minister of Finance, Jonathan Menkos.
The public call for professionals of Economic Sciences and Legal Sciences that show interest in participating has not yet been published.
The official, who assumed in 2020, during the health crisis, explained that the selection process is public, the resume must be presented, and the corresponding law requirements such as criminal, police, solvencies, among others, so that There is nothing extraordinary.
Participating candidates must undergo a series of exams in knowledge about fiscal policy.
Conflict of interest
Díaz Reyes, also serve as secretary of the board of the SAT, so that they cannot participate in the meetings that are held to discuss the superintendent’s choice process, so he commented that the mechanism will be sought not to participate in the Meeting on those issues.
He clarified that it is not necessary to give up his current position, to be able to run in this new process and reiterated that he has not made the decision to participate or not.
The period to which he was elected for five years concludes in mid -April, and will assume the new superintendent that is elected. The new official will cover the 2025-2029 period.
Defends increase
On the salary increase of 10% for the workers of the Tax Administrator and adjustments to the sheet of bonds they receive annually, Díaz Reyes went out to the defense.
