The elections of the Bar Association and Notaries of Guatemala (CANG) accumulate two appeals of which there is still no possible date to be discussed.
Yesterday he met an appeal against the election in the first round, held on February 7, of the Court of Honor.
It is an action presented by Marco Antonio Quiñonez Martínez, which indicates a series of errors in ballot printing, which indicated that it was the election for the 2023-2025 period, when the correct thing was the 2025-2027 period.
Due to the error in the ballot of the Court of Honor, all the forms signed an act recognizing the error during the vote of February 7.
In the first round the form 4 and the 10 got the majority of votes and passed to a second round.
Finally, after the February 14 elections, Form 4 won the Court of Honor. This form was headed by former Alicia Franco.
The appeal was presented on February 12, two days before the ballot was held, and the lawyer who appealed, according to records consigned in newspaper articles, was a defense lawyer Felipe Alejos when it was indicated by apparent acts of corruption in 2017.
The appeal against the first election of the Court of Honor was presented before the Assembly of Presidents of the Professional Colleges, a collegiate body that has not yet pronounced.
In process
The first nonconformity action that was known against the process was presented by Diego Sagastume, who asks that the second round of CANG elections be repeated.
Sagastume indicates apparent errors from the call launched by the CANG electoral court and alterations in the counting of three tables. His appeal was recently processed by the Board of Directors of the College and sent to the Assembly, who will have to know it.
Inauguration
The authorities elected by CANG must take possession on March 20. The Board of Directors will be presided over by former Patricia Gámez, while the Court of Honor will be in charge of the former Alicia Franco.
Currently, the control of the school was under the presidency of lawyer Mario Siekavizza, who participated in 2023 and won with the Aspa form, Group also promoted Judge Nester Vázquez as magistrate of the CC.
