Zelensky has been favorable to that agreement on condition that certain security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States also contain to avoid the possibility that Putin decides to attack Ukraine again after the war ended.
Trump, however, did not want to offer those guarantees, and Zelensky left the White House yesterday without signing the agreement.
After the meeting, Trump suggested the possibility of the United States withdrawing his support from Ukraine, although he left a door ajar in case Zelensky decides to return to negotiate, logically under the conditions imposed by Washington, he said in his social social network social.
“We are willing to sign the mineral agreement, and it will be the first step towards security guarantees,” Zelensky insisted in X.
But this “is not enough, and we need more than that,” he continued.
“A high fire without security guarantees is dangerous for Ukraine. We have been fighting for three years, and the Ukrainians need to know that the United States is on our side, ”said Ukrainian, stating that they cannot stop fighting without having guarantees that” Putin will not return tomorrow. “
