Vice Minister of the Interior informs of the actions they develop to clarify the crime against the mayor of Chuarrancho, Gerson Ajcú.

The Vice Minister of the Interior, Claudia Palencia, at a press conference this Thursday at the National Palace, spoke regarding the Murder of the mayor of Chuuracho, Gerson Ajcú.

“This is not an isolated event, in Guatemala for decades, crime has tried to snatch our people’s peace,” said the official.

He added that they integrated a group of investigators, who in coordination with the Public Ministry will work to clarify this crime “and find those responsible.”

“We are not going to spare efforts, nor resources until you see those responsible for three bars,” he said.

Palencia added that they have made firm decisions and that the control of the territory “do not have the gangs, the State must have.”

He said that criminal structures seek to infuse fear and destabilize communities.

Gerson Ajcúc, mayor of Chuuracho, died on Wednesday, February 26 in an armed attack registered in Km 12.5 of the Route to the Atlantic.

The death of the official was confirmed by Víctor Valenzuela, deputy and general secretary of the Vamos party.

On other issues, the Vice Minister reported that six combined forces camps have been installed and that they will soon install more.

The objective is to strengthen security. Also the operations against pirate taxis, this in areas where incidents have been reported in these vehicles.

In addition, requisitions in prisons continue.
