The president of the Congress, Nery Ramos, acknowledged that the Board of Directors of the Congress authorized the increase in salary for deputies in a session on February 4, however, on that occasion it did not integrate that instance.
Ramos’s confirmation happened after This media made known since last Monday That there was an act of the session of the Board of Directors of the Congress where the salary increase for the deputies was authorized as of this month, however, in different spaces the president of the Congress described the information as “false”.
“President Ramos has already verified the act in question, where members of the Board of Directors in his absence knew the joint opinion, they also generated instructions to carry out the budget readjustment, which according to the law must be again known and approved, to give way to the payment to the deputies,” says the answer.
Waiting for the CC
The CC knowing the case ordered that the salary increase be confirmed or rejected by the Plenary of the Congress, so it did not delegate responsibility to the Board of Directors of the Legislative.
Sources that preferred not to be cited, close to the CC, indicated that some of the arguments not to bring the discussion to the plenary was that this order was not in the resolutive part of the document. So the majority of deputies said it was an “administrative decision.”
Now, the Congress has to give explanations to the Constitutional Court (CC) for the approved salary increase for the deputies. The information requirement is due to a legal action that questions the increase and was admitted for processing.
The Citizen Action Organization (AC) presented a due execution that questions the salary increase, as it estimates that it could be breached with the steps set by the CC in a previous ruling.
The legislative received the notification of the CC this Thursday, February 27 at 11.02 and has until the morning of this Friday, February 28 to render its report. The Court explained in a recent statement that if the deputies do not respect their resolutions they can act ex officio.
