With this project, Fidel Funes debuted on the small screen in 2015, in a production transmitted in 130 countries, along with Mexican actors Renata Notni, Mane de la Parra, Alejandra García and Manuel Landeta.
In the last chapters of the soap opera, production decided to travel to Antigua Guatemala to record scenes in the City Council Palace and in front of the Cathedral of the Colonial City. On that occasion, Master Fidel Funes also participated, representing the music of Marimba Orchestra in the novel.
Its appearance occurs when the four protagonists expect the concert of Fidel Funes in Antigua. On the scene, Laura Vasconcelos (Alejandra García) points out that the teacher’s music is very pretty and that means a lot for her to listen to him in Guatemala.
“I hope not to disappoint,” says Master Funes.
Given this, Alejandra García’s character expresses the honor of meeting him and asks when he will take his music to Mexico.
“I hope it is soon and, when I go, there will be special passes for you,” says Master Funes.
Following this, the actress points out that it would be an honor to share with him, while Fidel Funes asks if they like to dance.
The conversation continues until they are interrupted by an assistant. Before leaving the scene, Funes says he hopes to see them dance at his concert.
Second and third appearance
In another scene, start the concert of Fidel Funes and his marimba orchestrawhere he interprets Delusionsone of his compositions.
In his third scene, Maestro Funes gives his album to the four protagonists. At that time, Laura Vasconcelos’s character asks him to take a picture with him.

Fidel Funes had a last appearance in the soap opera, this time with his marimba orchestra, during a show in Antigua Guatemala that was part of the recordings. On this occasion, the actors interacted with the public and danced to the rhythm of the teacher’s music.
Legacy of Master Funes
The Guatemalan composer died on Saturday, May 1 due to complications of his kidney disease, which caused him a cardiac arrest, according to his relatives.
In his 44 years of experience with his group, Fidel Funes and his marimba orchestraleft a significant legacy in the country.
With 50 musical successes, seven albums recorded live and more than 10 albums on digital platforms, Fidel Funes managed to transcend the borders of Guatemala, carrying his music from his native San Marcos to the United States, Mexico, Brazil and Europe, where he performed different concerts.
In addition, he innovated in the musical composition with themes such as Delusionsone of his greatest successes, and left his mark on the big screen with four films of Mexican gold cinema, where he shared the scene with the Northern Tigers.
Achievements of Fidel Funes
Throughout his career, the composer received various recognitions and even reached the big screen, after participating in three Mexican cinema films, in addition to having appearances in soap operas.
