An older adult was attacked by a swarm of bees while collecting firewood in a wooded area of the Monte Cristo, Santa Isabel, Chimaltenango village. Departmental municipal firefighters worked for four hours to put it safe.
During rescue tasks, lifeguards were also attacked by insects.
It was reported that the attack occurred after the victim accidentally uproar the swarm while collecting firewood in a ravine, so he suffered dozens of bites.
The lifeguards indicated that two of their companions were also affected and, together with the victim, were admitted to the Chimaltenango National Hospital.
It was reported that rescuers are stable and out of danger; However, the elderly is delicate, so he was transferred to the Roosevelt hospital.
Bees bites can be dangerous for allergic people to their poison, since there is a risk that the respiratory tract will close and cause death.
